Penny Friedman
Penny Friedman is Senior Managing Director and Group Head of CIT’s National Restructuring Group. She leads a team that originates and executes new senior financing opportunities for companies in transition, often involving bankruptcy. The team works closely with restructuring firms, hedge funds and private equity groups focusing on distressed opportunities.
Areas of expertise:
Previously, Friedman worked at GE beginning in 1994. She served as GE Commercial Finance Managing Director and Group Leader in the Automotive Group. In that role, she was responsible for growth platform marketing of all corporate lending products to North American suppliers and automotive manufacturers. During her 11 years at GE, Friedman also served as Senior Vice President and Team Leader for the Originations in the Restructuring Group, Vice President for E-Business Development for the Auto Financial Services Group and Vice President for the Global Sponsor Finance group. Prior to joining GE, Friedman worked at Heller Financial Services from 1990 to 1994 and started her career at Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1987.
She holds a BA in Accounting from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business. Friedman is a Certified Public Accountant.
