Umar Farooq
Umar Farooq is Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Chief Sales Officer. In this capacity, he is responsible for developing corporate and business unit strategy and for overseeing sales across CIT's five operating segments.
Areas of expertise:
Prior to this role, Farooq was Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for CIT Specialty Finance. In that role, he oversaw organic growth across Vendor Finance and Consumer/SBL segments. Farooq led a number of initiatives to grow sales across the two segments, including expansion of sales teams, productivity enhancement, growth metrics, sales development, sales automation and cross-sell.
Before joining CIT, Farooq was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he advised global financial services providers. At McKinsey, Farooq’s teams focused on strategic direction, growth, compensation and sales. Before joining McKinsey, he worked in both private and humanitarian law firms in the United States and South Asia.
Farooq holds a JD from Yale Law School, a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and BS degrees in Computer Science and Economics from MIT. He is a member of the New York Bar.
