Christopher (Chris) D. Cantwell is Managing Director and Group Head for CIT Leveraged Finance, Transportation. The Leveraged Finance, Transportation group provides corporate finance services focusing on the aerospace, defense, homeland security, government services, marine and rail markets. These services include senior and mezzanine loans, equipment loans and leases and advisory assignments. Cantwell started at CIT in 2007 as Director, Structured Finance responsible for structuring and selling asset-backed financings for the commercial aviation and aerospace markets with a focus on commercial air carriers, OEMs, MROs and the aviation supply chain.

  • Prior to joining CIT in June 2007, Cantwell worked at GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) where he was Senior Vice President, Structured Finance for GECAS’ spare engine and spare parts leasing and financing business. At GECAS, Cantwell was responsible for providing leadership for the structuring and execution of complex transactions for engines and parts leasing and financing as well as strategic marketing and business development for the group. Prior to that, Cantwell was head of sales for GE Engine Leasing and helped build GECAS’ engine leasing business from its inception in 2000 to its standing as the largest engine lessor in the world.

    Cantwell joined GECAS in January 1995 where he held positions of increasing responsibility in areas such as the Restructuring group, Structured Finance group and Fleet Advisory Services. Cantwell joined GECAS from BT Securities Corp./Bankers Trust where he was a member of the Airline & Aerospace Group responsible for providing corporate finance and advisory services to the aviation and aerospace industries worldwide. Cantwell has 22 years experience in the aviation finance industry. Cantwell received his M.B.A. in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University and his B.A. in History from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY.
