A note about Microsoft Internet Explorer versions

Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6, 7 and 8 are the CIT supported internet browsers for the various CIT client systems. The latest MS Internet Explorer 9 is available but has not been certified for use with our systems and may not work as expected. If you have upgraded to IE9, please visit the Downloads area of the Microsoft website and reload IE version 8.

Other browsers, such as Firefox or Chrome, may work with the various client systems but we do not support those browsers and will not be able to provide assistance with using those products.

CIS - Client Information System Update

The Client Statement screen has recently been updated to include additional information. For those clients that offer discount sales terms, additional discount information is now provided on the Client Statement screen. We have also clarified some of the transaction descriptions and corrected a previous limitation when exporting the Client Statement screen to Excel.

We continue to develop system enhancements and welcome your feedback.

--------------------------

Access to the "Classic" Online System for clients remains available for your convenience. Although this older system will remain available for the foreseeable future, we are not developing any new functionality or additional screen information.

We encourage you to migrate to our newer CIS - Client Information System. This a true web-based user interface with drop-down menus, scroll bars, export to Excel spreadsheets, and many other capabilities.

Client Internet Reporting Update

Client Position Adjustment report notice:
The notice report previously titled "Reserve Term Discount Adj" has been renamed "Client Position Adj" to more accurately reflect the content of the report. This change went into effect Friday, October 8, 2010. All previously published reports remain available for the normal retention period with the new "Client Position Adj" report name.

Tips and Techniques

Data Transmission Status:

Both CIS and the "classic" client systems contain information showing real time status of client data transmissions.

Select the Transmission Control screen (under the Data Exchange menu on CIS) to view a summary listing of all client data transmissions. The screen defaults to all data types, but you can select a specific file type to focus on certain information. We recommend all clients that transmit to get in the habit of checking the status of every data transmission to ensure we have successfully received and processed your invoice assignments or orders.

The Transmission Control screen will also identify any REJECTED transmissions and pinpoint the details of the data elements that caused the rejection.

CIS Customer Selection:

Hopefully you have found the vast amount of customer information available on the Client Information System helpful. The CIS user interface offers several tools that allow you to find and select the customer you are interested in. The quickest way to select a customer is to use the Customer selection boxes located just below the menu bar next to the date and time stamp. The shorter box to the left allows you to enter the seven-digit CIT customer number. The longer box to the right allows you to enter your own customer number. We maintain a cross-reference table so if you know your own customer account numbers you do not really need to know the CIT customer account numbers. Simply click your cursor into the longer box, key in your own customer account number, hit the <tab> or <enter> key and CIS will locate the customer account. The customer name will display along with the CIT customer number and your client customer number. This becomes the default customer as you navigate the various customer screens. To change the customer simply key in a different customer number and the screen will update with the newly selected customer's information.

Of course if you navigate to the Client screens the selected customer does not really apply. It is just sitting there waiting for you to navigate back to some customer screens.

If you do not know your customer number or the CIT customer number we offer several customer search screens. For more information about this topic or anything else related to CIS, Client Internet Reporting, Data Transmissions, etc. please contact our Client Support Services Help Desk at 800-248-9089 x2222.

CIS and Microsoft Internet Explorer 8:

If you have updated your internet browser to IE 8 you may have noticed problems accessing the various menu items within CIS. For the menu items to function properly you will need to enable the Compatibility View for the cis.cit.com website. Click the Compatibility View toolbar button located next to the Refresh button on the Address Bar. The Compatibility View button looks like a torn sheet of paper with the upper right corner folded down. If you do not see the Compatibility View button you can use the Tools menu and select the Compatibility View option. Either way, once you are in the Compatibility View Settings dialogue, add https://cis.cit.com to the address box and click the "Add" button. Close this dialogue window. You will probably be kicked back to the CIS logon screen. Simply log on and the CIS menus should work as expected.

Client Internet Reporting:
We recently implemented a minor update to the Client Internet Reporting / Report Web system. This resulted in a slight change to some default printing options. When printing some reports that fill up an entire page you may experience the last few lines of a page rolling over to a new page and wasting paper. While viewing the report, to properly fit the information onto each page go into "Printer Preview" mode by clicking the third icon across the top of the screen that looks like a sheet of paper. Within the "Printer Preview" mode click on the "Shrink to fit page height" box located toward the lower right of the screen. The "Printer Preview" mode also allows you to easily change the page setup for portrait or landscape orientation by clicking the "Setup" button toward the upper right of the screen.
