General Technical Information
Operating System Requirements -
We support Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7.
Browser Requirements -
Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6, 7 and 8 are the CIT supported internet browsers for the various CIT client systems. The latest MS Internet Explorer 9 is available but has not been certified for use with our systems and will not work as expected. If you have upgraded to IE9, please visit the Downloads area of the Microsoft website and reload IE version 8.
Other browsers, such as Firefox or Chrome, may work with the various client systems but we do not support those browsers and will not be able to provide assistance with using those products.
CIS - More Information
CIS is our latest Client Information System using true internet browser friendly features to access all your client and customer information.
CIS and Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or 8:
If you have updated your internet browser to IE 7 or 8 you may have noticed problems accessing the various menu items within CIS. For the menu items to function properly you will need to enable the Compatibility View for the cis.cit.com website. Click the Compatibility View toolbar button located next to the Refresh button on the Address Bar. The Compatibility View button looks like a torn sheet of paper with the upper right corner folded down. If you do not see it you can use the Tools menu and select the Compatibility View option. Either way, once you are in the Compatibility View Setting dialogue, add https://cis.cit.com to the address box and click the "Add" button. Close the dialogue window. You will probably be kicked back to the CIS logon screen. Simply log on and the CIS menus should work as expected.
Client Internet Reporting System - More Information
CIT's Client Internet Reporting System provides immediate access to your reports over the internet. All reports are formatted for easy viewing and printing. Most reports are also available in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format.
Additional Technical Information:
- All connections to Client Internet Reporting are made over internet port 80 using standard HTTP and HTTPS communications.
- CIT stores user preferences that may be recalled and used again after logging back into the website. These preferences are stored in a file called a "cookie."
- In order to view the Microsoft Excel versions of the reports you will need to have Microsoft Excel (or other third-party Excel compatible application) installed on your workstation.
Online Information System - More Information
The "classic" green screen version of the CIT system offers two methods of access - Java-based applet and HTML. In both cases, once you have finished using the system it is most important to log off properly. From the Main Menu, press the F1 function key. This will take you back to a blank screen. Then be sure to type CESF LOGOFF at the blank screen to properly logoff from the system. Otherwise, your user id will be locked for 30 minutes and you will not be able to log on again until the 30-minute time out window has passed.
