One Million Meals: GivingTuesday with CIT

GivingTuesday. It’s hard to imagine it's only been around for seven years — beginning in the United States with a vision to leverage technology and social media to inspire generosity.

This year, GivingTuesday falls on Dec. 3, and here at CIT, the momentum will already be well underway.

For the second year, CIT’s GivingTuesday initiative is One Million Meals, a partnership with Feeding America to provide food to those in need. We’ll be hosting a four-week campaign from Nov. 19 to Dec. 17, with GivingTuesday as the halfway point.

Want to help us make a difference? Here’s how:

  1. Finance equipment with CIT between Nov. 19 and Dec. 17, 2019, and we’ll donate 100 meals to Feeding America.

  2. Visit us at CIT Group on Facebook or Twitter and vote for one of the Feeding America programs listed below. Each vote, like, comment or share with #GiveLikeYou will direct 10 meals to the program of your choice:
    • MealConnect reduces waste by connecting food donors to food banks.
    • Mobile Pantry Program offers farmers market-style food distribution in underserved areas

GivingTuesday is now the largest movement of its kind in the world, with more than $1 billion raised since its inception. As the nonprofit organization GivingTuesday puts it, “The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day and touches every person on the planet."

Here at CIT, we want to help keep that momentum going. It’s all part of our focus on the power of responsible companies to be a force for good, where we do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.
