CIT Bank’s Halloween survey measured saving and spending trends across the U.S. Survey results include the following: The majority of US consumers are willing to cut corners on Halloween spending to keep their savings plans on track. 60% are willing to reuse a costume, 45% would make their own decorations, and 25% would skip the candy. Here are the top categories for Halloween spending in 2018. 60% plan to purchase holiday décor, 90% plan to purchase candy, and of that 90%, 40% will spend between $11 and $25, and 20% will spend between $26 and $50. The three states expected to spend the most on Halloween are California (31%), New York(14%)  and Massachusetts (8%).  Only 12% of U.S. consumers say they save for Halloween.
